2025 Classes Are Now Open
Drama classes for all ages across the Wellington region. In Term four all the classes in the Academy begin work on a scripted play for our production which they perform for their families and friends at the end of term four.

Lower Primary
Ages 5yrs - 8yrs
Our first level is our Lower Primary class which accommodates our youngest group of performers. This age group is extremely energetic and have natural curiosity about the world in which they live. They love to perform using their imagination in an environment that is safe and secure knowing they can be themselves. At Encore we offer warmup activities to stimulate their imagination, speech exercises and fun poems to create clarity in pace, pitch, and movement to music where they can be free to use their bodies in self expression without using their voice.

Encore offers full class plays where they are introduced to the stage, as to how the stage works, how the scripts work and what is involved in group or group/partner work where they can create their own little play or story.
Our Classes
Upper Primary
Ages 9yrs - 11/12yrs
Our next level is our Middle age range Upper Primary. Our programme is much the same with this group but slightly more advanced.This age group is becoming more social in terms of developing friendships and will start to venture outside of their comfort zones. Upper Primary really love to create their own work and feel extremely proud when they work together effectively in groups. They really enjoy celebrating what they have achieved especially through the formation of team work and can’t wait to share their work and creations with their peers.

Youth Group
Ages 12yrs +
Our older group is our Youth group, a fabulous programme for teenage students which enables them to perform on a weekly basis in a supportive environment with likeminded students. Our Youth students develop characters and characterisations in their work either working in small groups, working with partners or on their own focusing on their imagination, improvisation as well as using a variety of drama activities, drama scripts, monologues and texts. At this stage they are a lot more social and love to take a risk and support each other. This also helps them reach out so as they can feel comfortable to participate within a team.
In Term two Encore students work together in all of the areas of our curriculum to show case for their families a variety of work at the end of the term.
Composite Group
Ages 6-12yrs
Our composite group is a combined Lower and Upper Primary Class involving a mix of activities to suit this wide age range.
